The jazz duo Mint are now resident at Hotel Renaissance Kuala Lumpur, performing nightly Tuesday to Sunday, 7:15 pm – 11:30 pm until 4th November 2012.

Here is a comment on our performance, kindly written by our new friend Dr Gary Dayton from Trading Psychology Edge, who happened to be staying at Renaissance Kuala Lumpur during his Asia-Pacific Chart Reading Masterclass tour of Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Sydney:

Several years ago on a cold, snowy day, I stepped into a small bar on Columbus Ave in New York City to escape the weather and warm myself. As I came into the main room, I heard a sonorous voice accompanied by a piano. She was singing a Cole Porter tune – one I forget now, but I do remember her voice and the piano. At the time, I forgot the cold and was lifted by the music. It was the day I fell in love with standard jazz music, especially when played in a small, cozy setting by two or three really good musicians.

Last week, I was in the hot, humid weather of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I went down to the lobby bar for a quick drink at the Renaissance Hotel. There I heard Juliet and Didi playing a Fats Waller piece, and it was just wonderful. I stopped, forgot about the sticky weather and sat down to listen. I was carried away by their sweet sounds until it got late. Terrific music from a very, very nice couple.

Since I was in KL for the week, I went to listen to Juliet and Didi as much as I could. We met and I brought my business partners (also jazz lovers) to hear the good tunes and great sound these two musicians produce. We went often, and it seemed that each night was better than the last. That’s what happens when good music is performed exceptionally well – I think it does something good for the soul. At least that is the way I experience it. In any event, if you are in KL over the next several weeks, be sure to check them out at the KL Renaissance Hotel. If you like jazz and Latin standards, you will love these two.

I expect some snowy day back in New York, I will walk in off the street and again hear Juliet and Didi. I’ll know their sound immediately and I’ll certainly be pleased to hear them again. But more important, I’ll be happy for them for I will know that they will have reached one of their goals.
